Artist Statement

" Painting is how I relate and reconnect myself with my culture.  I've always been drawn to glorifying the human figure and rich colors.  I use Expressive characters, distorted movement, and conjoining shapes in my pieces to create a sense of existence.  I aim to bring my audience to specific moment, time, or place they can relate to and feel.  Black culture is full of memories and moments, moments that we love and reminisce about daily.  That's what drives me to paint, I have to capture my culture."
